I think instead of stopping the race they should require 12 inch wide double diamond rear tires like days of old when the track stayed good all day. Since fat tires we have gotten rolled down tracks with not much passing. Each mile track only has a surface for so long with todays tires. Hot Laps.
But shrinking the tires will never happen, might require drivers skills that a wide tire masks. That would be like getting the horse back in the barn.

I think the red flag will be good for the fans cause some cars will change tires and make adjustments and start in the rear of the double file and maybe some will stick it out in the front with what they got.
My question to the teams is spending $500 to $900 fresh tires worth the pay?

But mile dirt races are tradition! Messing with that upsets the fans.

This will be interesting that's for sure.
