Some parents don't always exercise the best judgement. If a track has no age restricitions on entering the pits, and a parent signs his kids in, and something untoward happens, I do not believe that our legal system will look at the signed release favorably. The thing about the pits is that cannot completely control the environment - bad things sometimes happen...while I won't pass judgement on anyone who signs their kids into the pits, I know what I'd do...buy them a $5 grandstand seat/ticket and have them chaperoned. And if I couldn't get a chaperoned, well, they're kids. They'll get over missing a race....no matter how much they enjoy the races!
