The 1/4 mile paved track you refer to was probably the 1/5 mile concrete track that was known as Riley Park and Leary's Concrete Midget Speedway. It lived a short life, racing was only held from 1940 - 1942. After WWII boat races were held there but no more car racing. Another possibility is that it was a 1/5 mile dirt in which case it would have been the Greenfield Midgetdrome. It ran from 1941 - 1948 with interruption for WWII. The 1/2 mile was most likely the Greenfield Speedbowl also known as Leary's Speedbowl. It, too, lived a short life with racing only from 1947 - 1949.
