The famous "Tuffy's Offy" cars, both Midget and Indy cars were owned by Tuffanelli, a Chicago mobster who also owned Raceway Park on the South Side of Chicago. His ownership during the 1940's was disguised under the name of others.
A famous stock car racer named Bob Pronger, worked under Tuffanelli operating a "Chop Shop". He met his end when he refused to pay a "Street Tax" to another faction of the Chicago Mob. Got a one-way ride to a dirt nap !
