There will be a lot of cooking and eating going on today so I thought we could share a few recipes with our fellow IOW friends.
AED Mac and Cheese
Enough macaroni to fill whatever pan you are using
A good mixture of cheeses, for example:
Authentic Mexican
Mozzarella
Sharp Cheddar
Pepper Jack
Cream Cheese just to name a few
Because it is such a special holiday I bought Sargento
usually I get the cheap Kroger brand
Butter 2 sticks
Corn flakes
Salt and pepper
Milk
Pour enough milk into your baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish
Add a layer of mac, the cheese of your choice (if using the bag kind I use
most of the bag for every layer, hence the name AED)
6 pats of butter, salt and pepper
On top of that add more mac, another type of cheese, 6 more pats of butter or cream cheese, salt and pepper
You should be getting close to the top of the baking dish so pack that last bit of mac into that pan
add a different cheese, more milk, 6 more pats of butter, salt and pepper, this is the time to be creative and
add what you want. When you can't get anymore in crush Corn flakes sprinkle on top of mac making a good covering.
Don't forget he edges and corners. Cover really well and Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour or more. You want the cheese to be really melted.
The secret to making a good macaroni and cheese is after boiling your water for the mac, cook the mac for no more
than 11 minutes. Cool down the mac as soon as you finish cooking.
Serve with a prayer of Thanksgiving!
