Maybe we need a NASCAR race, that would equal big money.
What the city wants is the best possible track that will draw the most people to the city. People need to realize what the city has done for the Lawrenceburg Speedway. They have spent multi millions on this track and are spending multi millions more this year and more next year.
How much complaining will go on if the city would just sell the property to a Wal-Mart??
Bottom line is people are afraid of change. I am one of those people.
Its just human nature.
The only beef i have about cecils post is the fact that he says the track could be too fast, HUH??? This is racing....speed is what it is about. Yes its dangerous, it don't matter what size track.
The City of Lawrenceburg Is outstanding to deal with, I have had a great time this year working with them. Mayor Bill Cunningham has done wonders for the track and we should all hope he gets re-elected this fall. What happens if he would be voted out of office and the new mayor hates racing?? scares me.
Thanks, Dave
Dave, if you are saying that's the way I see it - bigger track = bigger races - that is not true. I am saying that those in power in Lawrenceburg see it that way. Speaking stricktly as a fan, 3/8 is fine by me, as long as traditional sprints and midgets are there, I will be. I just hope a 25 lap feature for sprints, which be be a 50% longer distance on a 3/8 track than a 1/4 track, will pay more. That seems like the right thing to do.
