Car owners and drivers are preparing for an intense period of racing activity which includes five increasingly big and bigger events over a short six week span. The Florence show will kick off a late season Race to Prosperity with a 30 lap feature paying $3,000 to win. Drivers are reminded that $100 in tow money will be paid to participants who made the pull to Kentucky but did not make the feature. The increased pay-offs until seasons end will provide the remaining 5 feature winners with a combined winners purse of $31,000 to shoot for. The results of the upcoming races at 4 different tracks might create a five way split if 5 different winners emerge from the pack to grasp a checkered flag.

MSCS sprints have made 3 appearances at Florence Speedway with the first appearance being in 2005. Each race there has produced a different winner. Dickie Gaines, Robert Ballou, and Chris Windom mastered the half mile track on those particular evenings. These 3 drivers have either won or finished in the top five in each of their two appearances at Florence. Darren Hagen, Kyle Cummins, and Dave Darland have been in the top ten on two occasions at the track.

Hud Cone of Oakland City, IN, holds the distinction of being the only driver to make and finish all three of those features and he turned in three top ten performances with the opportunities he earned. Over 50 different drivers have captured a feature starting spot at Florence Speedway. Only 10 of those have been in a Florence starting line-up more than once! Heat races to earn those starting spots have been competitive. Features have been dotted with new faces. The track serves as a neutral battle ground on the MSCS circuit!

Ricky Williams was one of those new faces late in the fall of 2007. He made the feature that night and continued on with the series to earn the MSCS Rookie of the Year honors in 2008. Currently Williams is battling Kyle Cummins for the 2009 MSCS title. The two drivers are separated in the standings by a mere 28 points! Rookie Brandon Mattox is third in points this season and finished 11th in his first appearance at Florence in May. This race has the potential to cause a shift throughout the top ten as the points race also resumes. Blake Fitzpatrick and Hud Cone round out the top five in points thus far.

The program on the 29th at Florence Speedway is a triple header and will also include a complete slate of late model and modified races. Information released by the track lists the starting time for the race at 7:30 P.M. The pit gates open at 4 P.M. and the main gate open at 6 P.M. with hot laps lined up in the chute. All times are E.D.T.
