My first Indy 500 was in 1974. I was 10 years old. I've missed two 500's since then. One for the birth of my daughter while living in Texas and one due to military service overseas.
My Dads' first Indy 500 was in 1935. (I still have his ticket stub). He didn't miss a 500 until he passed away in 2004.
Is that enough tradition for you?
