We would really like to see one of these "better financed" teams like Walker, TSR, KK, CGR or Truckers ETC., step up and give Dickie Gaines a ride that gives him a chance to win his Dad's memorial race. However, if that doesn't come to fruition and as long as our car still has 4 wheels touching the ground and a running motor, he definitely has a ride. He was informed tonight.
My next point! A couple of weeks ago the generous IOW'ers from Section A offered to help us with tires when we ran the "double" at the M.A.S.S winged/non-wing race. As tempting as it was to accept the offer, we couldn't bring ourselves to take your hard earned money. In retrospect, I'm glad we didn't because we had a sick motor the entire night and the tire would've gone to waste. I want you guys to know that Brad and I really appreciated your kind gesture! However, we may take you up on that offer, if it still stands, when and if Dickie runs our car in the $10K Memorial race. We normally run on used rubber but I would like to give him a fighting chance on that night by putting him on fresh tires. Hopefully we can talk about it as that time approaches.
