For decades the 500 sold out by the end of June for the next year's 500. And that was with near zero promotion or marketing. There were a couple of weeks of Practice, two weekends of Time Trials...

You are likely correct in today's racing world. But back in the Don Smith/Bill Hill promotion days the Action Track ran just two USAC sprint car races and the Hut Hundred for midgets in a season. ...

I didn't see it in the article but this was a CSRA (Central States Racing Association) race. AAA had dropped out of racing at the end of 1941 because of the war but other groups continued to race...

Silver Crown cars have clutches so push vehicles aren't needed. If they have any kind of competition break (a la NASCAR) it defeats the purpose of a hundred mile race which is what the entire series...

USAC made cages mandatory on midgets and sprints starting with the 1971 season. Champ Dirt cars didn't make cages a requirement until 1972.

Interesting in that there is no 100% vaccine for seasonal flu either. And although no one worries much about it the flu is every bit as deadly as the Wuhan Virus in numbers of deaths. Every year...

It ends a lot earlier this year. All qualifying is done at 2:15 PM on Sunday. Open Practice starts again at 3:15 PM.
