I don't know if it's the same incident you mention, but I remember Mark at Knoxville during a Nationals prelim (I think a Scramble) losing the rear bumper causing a yellow and then not being allowed...

Sad Brad Doty's Mother killed in Auto Accident

Brad Doty's Mom was killed in a auto crash last evening. She was taking her daughter Ami back to the airport (she lives in Texas) and an 18yr old went left of center and struck their car.
