Midwest Connection - 1911 Indy 500 winning car
One of my favorite places to visit is the Indy 500 Museum. And, I am sure most readers on the IOW messageboard have seen this car in the Indy 500 Museum a time or two. I took the photo below, I do believe in 1996. I remember standing there and staring at this car and saying to myself, how did Ray Harroun and other drivers of that era steer these cars and go for 500 miles - they were "Made of Iron" I suppose. Open wheelers, as they were in the past, and as they are today, are America's "True Grit" auto racers - just my opinion.
Have a good day...see you at the races :thumb Midwest Connection Rich Edwards - Arnold, Missouri 1911 Indy 500 Winner -The "Marmon Wasp" - driven by Ray Harroun :checkered: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...scan0001-7.jpg |
