So sad tonight... Dave Steele lost his life tonight at Desoto Speedway in Tampa..God Speed...So sorry for his Dad Mac Steele

There was a period of time that Dave Steele was just a force of nature on pavement tracks, in our type of racing. Dominant in a way that very few drivers ever become. This is a huge loss. R.I.P.

Just saw him win at Desoto this past September....truly one of the best pavement racers around.

I'm glad (thanks to Tony George & the teams he was with) that he got a SHOT...just wish it woulda been on some more solid deals & idk if he had ANY rear-engine laps BEFORE Indycars? (Ran "Infiniti Pro Series" AFTERwards)...

Wiki - "Steele attempted to make his Indy Racing League IndyCar Series debut in 1996 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for ABF Motorsports but failed to qualify. He made his first start in 1998 at Phoenix International Raceway, the second race of the season, driving for RSM Marko, then drove in the final two races of the year for Panther Racing."
