6/13/16 7:55 PM SPRINTS EYE LATE-JUNE MID-AMERICA SWING; CLAUSON CLAIMS EASTERN STORM TITLE
http://usacracing.com/news/sprint-ca...rn-storm-title http://usacracing.com/media/k2/items...5602cd42_S.jpg SPRINTS EYE LATE-JUNE MID-AMERICA SWING; CLAUSON TAKES 3, CLAIMS EASTERN STORM TITLE; BOESPFLUG, WINDOM ALSO SCORE WINS USAC’s AMSOIL National Sprint Cars are idle this week as they prepare for a mid-America swing which includes races June 23 at Jackson, Minn., June 24 at Eagle, Neb. and June 25-26 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kans. Brady Bacon leads the series into those four events, carrying a 29-point advantage after a trio of “podium” finishes in last week’s “Eastern Storm” events in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind. captured the 2016 “Eastern Storm” title after scoring three feature victories and a third in the series.* He captured Tuesday’s “Jesse Hockett Classic” at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., then added a Wednesday night win at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. and a Saturday win at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway in the B & H Contractors/Cancer Treatment Centers of America Spike/Stanton Mopar. Chad Boespflug of Hanford, Calif. won Thursday’s feature at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway and Chris Windom of Canton, Ill. won Sunday night’s finale at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven, Pa. Boespflug piloted the Capitol Renegade/Capitol Custom Trailers Maxim/Claxton and Windom wheeled the Fox Paving/AMSOIL Maxim/Claxton Mopar. Clauson was the fourth and final leader at Grandview, pacing the final 17 laps after grabbing the lead from Jarett Andretti. Kevin Thomas Jr., Windom, Thomas Meseraull and Andretti rounded out the top-five. At Lincoln, Clauson led the final six laps after passing Chase Stockon on lap 25. Windom took second ahead of Stockon, Meseraull and Shane Golobic. Landon Simon of Tipp City, Ohio won a special 25-lap added “non-points” feature at Lincoln, driving the Mount Baker Vapor/Club W DRC/Rider. Aaron Farney, Bacon, C.J. Leary and Kyle Moody completed the top-five. Simon led all but the first two laps. Boespflug passed Leary on lap five at New Egypt and led the final 26 laps to beat Robert Ballou, Clauson, Bacon and Leary. Clauson led the final seven laps at Port Royal to beat Bacon, Max McGhee, Dave Darland and Leary. Windom’s victory in the Susquehanna closer turned out to be a wire-to-wire performance. Chase Stockon grabbed second ahead of Bacon, Meseraull and Ballou. Clauson (3) and Stockon (2) dominated the week’s ProSource Fast Qualifier Awards, while KSE Hard Charger Awards went to Windom, Meseraull, Jerry Coons Jr., Golobic and Leary. USAC again thanks Simpson Race Products, Competition Suspension, Benic Enterprises and Indy Race Parts for their continuing support of the preliminary races. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPCOMING USAC AMSOIL SPRINT CAR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT: DATE: Thursday, June 23, 2016 SERIES: USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship TRACK: Jackson Motorplex (Jackson, Minnesota) – ½-mile dirt oval EVENT: USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship presented by the Minnesota Mafia, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Modifieds STARTING TIMES: TBA TICKETS: TBA TRACK ADDRESS: Jackson County Fairgrounds, 76748 550th Ave, Jackson, MN 56143 TRACK PHONE: (507) 841-1957 TRACK WEBSITE: http://www.jacksonmotorplex.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPCOMING USAC AMSOIL SPRINT CAR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT: DATE: Friday, June 24, 2016 SERIES: USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship TRACK: Eagle Raceway (Eagle, Nebraska) – 1/3-mile dirt oval EVENT: “Rumble in the Bullring” featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship, SSN Sprints and MCSA STARTING TIMES: Pit Gates Open: 4:00pm, Gates Open: 5:15pm, Hot Laps: 5:30pm, Racing Starts: 6:30pm.
