Taylor's gamble pays off at Anderson
The UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series continues to thrill fans and competitors alike at Anderson Speedway. On Saturday night the USSA midgets decided another race on the ¼ mile high banks between turn four and the flag stand on the final lap.
Saturday night Dameron Taylor made one last attempt to dive under leader Nick Hamilton in turn four coming to the finish. The two cars touched wheels and Hamilton spun into the infield as Taylor drove to the checkers. Hamilton led 29 laps of the 30 lap feature with Taylor making numerous attempts to make the pass. “I made several tries to go high, but Nick was running a perfect line,” Taylor said in victory lane. Trey Osborne had the best seat in the house as he shadowed Taylor and Hamilton from the midpoint of the race. Osborne was in perfect position to pounce if one of the leaders made a mistake. The Columbus, Ohio native picked up second in the turn four excitement. Ryan Huggler, Simpson World Indy rookie Chase Jones and Logan Huggler filled out the top five. With his win Taylor returns to the top of the UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series point chart. The 2016 season has seen the points lead change hands after every race. Taylor, the Huggler brothers and Kyle Hamilton have all taken a turn on top this season. Taylor currently leads Logan Huggler by just 13 markers with Ryan Huggler trailing his brother by 17 points. Osborne and Ashlea Albertson round out the top five following the Anderson race. |
