Driving the Curtis Motor Sales/Hamilton Racing Spike/Esslinger, Kyle led the final 87 laps after passing Billy Wease on lap 14. He built a half-lap lead before the 75-lap intermission, then declined the option of restarting last to aim for the $10,000 Shepherd Insurance Tailgunner Bonus. He claimed the $5,000 winner’s share to beat fast qualifier Grant Galloway, Kevin Studley, Ross Rankine and Indianapolis 500 veteran Gabby Chaves. Chaves accepted the Shepherd Insurance bonus and restarted last on the lap 75 resumption but was only able to get back to fifth place before the checkered flag flew. Re: Usac: Kyle hamilton wins tony stewart classic
Wow, Gabby Chaves in 5th. And went from last to 5th in the last 25 laps. How long since and Indy driver has done anything like this (excluding BC). I am now a Gabby Chaves fan. Bring him on up to Kokomo.

Somehow they must have figured out some way to add2 more cylinders to it because they sound like an old Dodge Cummings Pick Up truck on the track. 3.If Kitley would come up with a stock block class like D II Midgets and found a tire that did not cost $175.00 each they could pull off a weekly race for Midgets. The guaranteed purse for this race was $1000.00 to start. $700.00 to $900.00 for tires and $150.00 for fuel for the race car makes that a break even deal. Now if it was $1000.00 for first it wouldn't take long to go in the hole. 4. Twin 60 lap races with the option for any or all of the front 3 runners to start on the tail would be more realistic for a racer to bet on. 5. The crowd wasn't like it was back in the 70's and 90's but a decent crowd. Hope they do it again next year. Also ticket prices are like gear ratios I think they might have been geared just a tad high. Maybe fewer VIP seats and more and cheaper general admissions. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |

Sorry Dad. I'll try to not post positive things which might upset you about midgets again.

SO glad to see a good car turnout for this race. Cool to see this about Gabby too. I have been watching him since that 4 wide finish Indy Lights race at the Speedway a few years ago that Sage and Munoz were involved in as well. Hey I have an idea. CAn I dream a little? Wouldn't it be great to get a couple more Indy drivers to compete at this race next year? Who wouldn't love to see Kanaan, Helio or Dixon or any others jump in there and scrap??? Are you listening IRL??? Want to make more fans INSTANTLY??? Even though half of the drivers are foreign born these days, if they came and ran some in the midget world, these fans would no doubt notice and then probably get more interested in what is going on in the IRL. Hey what if we had weekly Wed night races at the Seedrome again and Hunter-Reay, Gabby, Graham, Dixie, Kanaan ect showed up on a regular basis to scrap with the locals and some Usac'ers? Hey, I said "CAN I dream" ....

Sorry but I had to Google Gabby Chaves to find out what he was done.

Re: Usac: Kyle hamilton wins tony stewart classic
Great track now with the repave, passing a million times better than old surface, good rules (almost none) and tires were reasonably priced. I used scuff tires for the open test on friday and 5 stickers on Saturday, that's pretty reasonable for the 195 laps we turned over the two days. Bravo to all involved on a well ran event, really liked some of the talk about adding a couple more events next year. We hurt an engine with 5 to go but it was worth it to get pavment cars back out, she'll be fixed up in no time and ready to get back to it!
