Louisville-to-Bloomington?

I have some business to take care of down south after Memorial Day and will be headed back up I-65 on Friday, May 29th. I'll be going through Louisville late afternoon and I figure I'll make the best of it and hit Bloomington that night for their weekly show.

What's the best route to the track from Louisville on up? I was going to take I-65 north to Seymour, US-50 west to Bedford, and then 37 north to the track. Any help would be appreciated.

Going north on I-65, take Exit 68 at Columbus. You'll be on Indiana 46 and take that to Bloomington. From Columbus to Nashville, the road is wide and straight. From Nashville to Bloomington it isn't. But it's probably a shorter trip going on up to Columbus.

If you're coming from somewhere south of Louisville on I-65 you can avoid the mess at the I-65/I-64 intersection and the new bridge construction by taking this route. Mostly 2 lane road after you get on US150, but a pleasant drive.

Enjoy the race.

Thanks for all of the routes, guys. And yes, the Louisville construction was a mess the last time I went through there coming back.

Louisville is kinda of screwed up right now so assuming they send you over to I-64 the US 150 route will save you time and miles. It is all good road and is our normal route to Bloomington. Watch out for them single horsepower buggies however they show up when least expected.

The last time I came back through Louisville was in February, and we drove right up the gut (I-65). It was a mess. Sat in traffic for about an hour. I won't do that again, so an "end run" around the left tackle sounds like a good idea this time.

It will be my first time to Bloomington Speedway, too, so that'll be cool way to end the drive for the day.

Like I said earlier, thanks for the help, guys. I especially appreciate it with respect to how big/fast the county/state roads are once off of I-65. I think I can make a good decision from here. Multiple options, too.

I avoid 65 bridge at all cost. When i lived-in floyd county i took the 150 route.

I have made that trip over a hundred times going to Bloomington or Paragon since the 80's. I have found that Seymore to Bedford on 50, then north on 37 has been the fastest way fo me.
