http://usacracing.com/news/sprint-ca...earl-baltes-93 http://usacracing.com/media/k2/items...7de71031_S.jpg * EARL BALTES, 93 Earl Baltes, who built the famed Eldora Speedway in 1954 and in 2003 hosted the richest Sprint car race in the world – the “Mopar Million” – the USAC event which offered a total purse of one million dollars, has passed away at the age of 93. Serving as a race organizer at seven different race tracks in Ohio and Indiana, Baltes presented a remarkable 287 USAC races and was twice honored as the USAC “Race Organizer of the Year.” In 2013 he was inducted into the USAC Hall of Fame. USAC extends its sincerest condolences to his wife Berneice, his family and his countless friends and associates throughout the motorsports community. * |

May the Lord bestow peace and comfort upon the family and friends of Mr. Baltes in this time of sadness and loss.
It's been said a million times, Mr. Baltes was an icon among icon's. What he meant to dirt track racing is beyond measure. Rest in peace sir. Your place in history and importance to the sport we love so dearly will never fade. |
