Is it a decent pump? The builder refreshing my motor basically told me to throw it in the trash that they are major piles of garbage. He in fact warned a solid chance of blowing my motor up if I use it... What's the consensus on them?

Did he say why he felt that way?

I've heard now from a few people familiar with them that the filter clogs easliy and it's very easy to lose oil pressure. I'm just trying to make sure I'm safe with it.

I use this pump, yes the filter clogs easy so buy a spare filter to have at the track but other than that the pump works great. I do know that they did redesign the pump and are no longer making parts for this pump style.
