ISW - Terre Haute & Lincoln Park 1st timer

Due to Kings Royal week being pushed back a week and ISW keeping the same dates, we are making a change in 2015.

Instead of the BDC before the KR, we are now going to ISW Terre Haute and Lincoln Park shows.

We have never been to either track. Looks like we have a big half mile and 1/4 mile bullring, one track in the city and other in the country/woods.

Are we in for some good racing... are we making the right decision? I'm sure the place is packed with campers due to it being ISW.

thanks,

Scott Larson,
Bentonville, AR

It's the best 1-2 combo you could ever make 35 miles apart and two totally different experiences.

Lincoln Park is a Paper Clip with long straights and tight turns with 3/4 built into a hillside Its got a reputation for getting a monster Cushion and you'll have guys running it for all its worth and others running the inside berm. And a couple will make the middle work,
The Stands at Lincoln Park are built into the hillside on the front straight. There are also bleachers on both ends. Whats unique is there is room between grandstand rows for LAWN CHAIRS the only bad thing about this is if you sit on the benches, you need to sit behind someone sitting on the benches and vice versa. If your in chairs, you need to sit behind people in chairs. Great reasonable food. Recommend the chicken boat for about 5 bucks and a huge bag of popcorn. You can bring a cooler, No beer but they do sell it.

Terre Haute is a half mile with big huge straights and slightly banked tight turns. Bikes, Three wheels and fish tailing down the straights are quite common. They'll be plenty of seats. I recommend the bleachers off turn four. Bring Binoculars if you wish, Coolers allowed and carry in food as well. The concessions, The foods not bad but overpriced and sometimes the lines are big especially in the breaks. Lots of fast food and restraurants outside the gates you could pick up when coming in.

LPS I recommend getting there early for both parking and a good seat although I heard rumor they were extending the grandstand a bit and there has always been room, for the bigger races the blankets and chairs take up a lot of room. If you have chairs, put em behind chairs. If your bench seating, sit behind a blanketed bench. Id also say the track food is as good of a value as any fast food joint, they get you through fast and ENJOY.

Have fun, you won't regret it.

I actually attended both these races this past summer as my first ever trip to Sprint Week. They were both fantastic. LPS quickly turned into one of my favorite tracks to watch non winged sprints at. When you first see, its tiny! The racing is absolutely AWESOME! You will not be disappointed with either show

I agree with Charles that the Turn 4 bleachers at THAT are great seats. But here's a tip - don't sit directly under one of the light poles.

...unless you and flying bugs get along really well.

There's great racing at both tracks and I agree with the others that the turn 4 bleachers at THAT is the place to sit. If you're camping, THAT charges for camping and I'd recommend getting to LPS very early because camping fills up quick.

2 other suggestions....1. check out the infield and either go down in turn 1 or turn 3 to watch a heat race...2. watch a hot lap session or heat race from under the covered grandstand just past the flag stand...watching them come down the front straightaway and the noise will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck!!

Totally agree with this! When I was down there first timing it at both tracks last year, I watched heat 1 at THAT from the turn 1 infield, heat from turn 2 infield etc. Watched qualifying under the roof, and watched the feature from the turn 4 grand stands. It was AWESOME! At LPS I watched qualifying and heats on the hill in turn 4 (Hopkins came right at me). Tried to get down by turn 1 for the B, and watched the feature standing at the top of the grandstand. Also AWESOME!

Scott,

Both tracks are good choices. Two totally different styles of racing with one big track and one bullring. Like Terre Haute and love Lincoln Park! The cushion at Lincoln Park is simply awesome especially coming off turn four. I just smile ear to ear as the sprinters bounce off the high cushion and shoot down the homestretch. It doesn't get much better than that. Terre Haute is very racy and the speed on the straightaways is re ally something to witness. The way the sprinters twitch and bobble on this track is quite a sight. You will enjoy both. Happy travels!:10::10:
