Brickley Takes 2nd Straight Speedway Motors ILSS Win
 

The “Buckshot” Billy Brickley of Wataga IL, took his Henchcraft 00 to the front from his 5th place starting spot in turn 2 and lead all 20 laps at Lincoln Speedway on Fri. night. A stellar field of 18 Speedway Motors Lightning Sprints signed in to do battle. Rookie Robby McQuinn of Springfield experienced a head gasket problem prior to hot laps and was unable to race. Brickley who took command early had a fierce battle going on behind him with Mitchell Davis, Gedd Ross, Andy Baugh, Brad Funk and Austin Archdale dicing it up for the runner up spot. Ross would run in 2nd until lap 9 when he would retire to the pits with fuel pressure problems. Davis, Baugh, Funk, and Archdale battled for the 2nd spot with the “Mason City Maniac” Andy Baugh finding a groove on the top and put on a show on the top side as he started to run Brickley down. A caution on lap 16 for Sam Brickley would bunch up the field with Baugh, Funk ,Davis and Archdale in tow. Baugh would again jump to the top with a great run for the 3rd spot going on behind. On the white flag lap Baugh made a run on top going into turn 1 and had a shot at the lead but tagged the wall in turn 2 and almost put the 6B on its top but managed to hang on for 2nd spot. Brad Funk would hold off Davis and Archdale for 3rd spot . The racing was very fast all night with a track smooth as glass and had racing from top to bottom. Great job on an excellent track last night Norm Horn. The Speedway Motors lightning sprints will be back again this coming Fri night at Lincoln Speedway for another great night of non wing fast paced racing action.
