A midwest hero passes
 

For many long-time Kansas and Oklahoma race fans, the name Harold Leep is synonymous with sprint cars and super modifieds...and with winning. His recent death is a great loss to the midwest racing community. RIP Mr. Leep.

Bob, I remember seeing the name Harold Leep a few times in the Belleville High Banks Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately for us in The Land O' Lincoln & crooked politicians the sanctions Mr. Leep ran with didn't venture into our neck of the woods very often. I do, however, remember reading the name Harold Leep in The Hawkeye Racing News my Dad would buy for me up at Sterling Speedbowl Park back in the '60's and early '70's. Thanks for posting the articles.

Another from the golden era of open wheel racing leaves us. RIP.

Harold was known to run with the "big boys" on occasion, as evidenced by this shot of him in the Pete Schmidt Kuzma Offy at Milwaukee in 1960. This car was also piloted by Eddie Sachs.
