Mini Sprint D-mount hub question

Having been told that I could take the 4-pin centers out of my existing wheels and run them on direct-mount hubs, I bit the bullet and bought a set of Bailey d-mounts. After massaging 5 of the holes in the wheels to slip over the lug studs and shaving the coating on the hubs enough for the wheels to fit on the registers I discovered the existing nuts on the remaining 10 center mounting bolts won't fit through the clearance holes in the hubs; anybody know of a fix for this? Will jet nuts fit? What do Weld & Sander do on their new d-mount wheels? Appreciate any advice. I'm thrashing to make it out to Montpelier at least one time this year and this is one of the last obstacles. Well, at least I hope it is...:15:

The welds that came on my car, 4pin, fit right on the dmi d-mount hubs I bought. I do have some keizers that had to have the holes opened up a bit but they fit just fine. Are you using 12 bolt or 15 bolt wheels?

15-bolt; the Bailey hubs have 5 lug studs that replace 5 of the center bolts, and 10 larger relief holes that a bare bolt will fit through easily, but not with a nut on it. That's why I'm thinking jet nuts may clear, since they have a smaller OD than a standard nut. If I don't get an answer here I'm going to buy some Monday to try, but I'm hoping somebody's had the same experience and has already figured it out.

Back when I had a Bailey I think the front wheels had Allen head bolts in the other holes with the nuts on the outside of the wheel... I'd try that.

You're probably going to have to use Allen bolts then, or jet nuts

You go into Fastenal, and ask for "jet nuts", and they'll look at you like you just been dipped out of a septic tank, ask for "ferry head" or 12 point, and that'll get you in, course you could just use allens, that will work also, and be a lot simpler to the counter guy! You could ask for "orlo" threads on your allens, that'll get you on their "weirdo" list, but then you wouldn't need locks! Bob

Bought a "trial set" of allens & locknuts at Save Big Money (Menards) to test out on one wheel and they worked like a charm, so that's the way I'm gonna go. It's gonna be a thrash to get everything done by Saturday but I think it's doable...
Thanks for everybody's input; wish me luck!

Just remember to protect your "jet nuts"...... :)
