I've got an issue with my tq and it has us all lost. At 6000 rpm. It starts to pop, crack, and blowing crazy flames. We have changed motor. Carburetors, and every electrical thing on the car. Even re did the wiring. Changed ignition switches. Spark plugs are wet. And the muffler gets cheery red. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you change?
|
This maybe a dumb question Devin, but have you inspected your muffler/exhaust for any failures or blockage?

Re: tq help
Yes sir. Even took the muffler off.

Re: tq help
What kind of ignition system are you running? Mag, MSD, something else? Did you swap that out under the "everything electrical" category? Sounds like a timing/advance issue to me, but just guessing...

Re: tq help
Ignition plate. And yes changed it. Along with coils. Spark plug wires. Spark plugs. Battery. Grounds. All wiring. Nothing else we can change?

Re: tq help
fuel pump

Brand new. Stated it pumps 70 gallons an hour. We pumped a gallon a minute. So its working.

Check cam timing also make the engine has a good ground as well as the chassis I have extra dyna s and dyna coils if you need some to try. Double check your battery we fought issues for 3 weeks once and we ended up having a bad battery charger. If its breaking up at 6k and soaking the plugs you could have a return line issue providing you run one. It def sounds like your running alky right through the motor and what doesn't get burned internally is burning in the header hence the flames. Hth

Not cam timing. Changed engines and still same issue. Changed battery and chargers and eliminated return line. Same issue.

Re: tq help
Is it possible that one of they areas you have it grounded to was freshly painted in the offseason and now the ground can't make good contact? Say a motor plate or something of that nature. Sure sounds like you have eliminated the hard to replace/expensive stuff. Maybe if you keep grounding it to the same area that is painted it keeps causing the same problem.
Of course...bad grounds can burn up good ignition boxes causing further problems. |
