Kokomo Payout

I was at Kokomo last night and was disappointed they could not run the feature. But, I understand and agree with Jerry Spencer's positive about the efforts of the O'Conners. I was satisifed with the racing I saw for the money I spent and don't expect a rain check or any kind of refund.
What I do wonder only as in interested fan is whether the teams got any payout of the purse money and if so what percentage of what it would have been if the featrue was run.
As I said I am only a fan with no dog in the fight so to speak. Only curious.

Re: Kokomo Payout

I just saw the notice of the make-up feature on the Kokomo web site. I wonder if they will run it before the regular scheduled show. I hope so because I have a two hour drive.

No payout until we run the feature next Sunday (double feature)

All tracks do it different and of the tracks we run I think Gas City is the only track that gives a refund on your ticket the night of the rainout, say what you want about Gas City but Jiggs, Phil and the crew have stood in the pooring rain trading dollar bills for wrist bans/ticket stubbs.

I think at one race this year (a Kiss show) they said if we got rained out they would pay out the way you were supposed to start. Keep in mind K.I.S.S. does not reschedule.

I was p@#$#^ when the rain got there due to the fact I think we had a shot at our first feature at home, I am also very glad they did the parade laps as had we been green when the rain hit today might have been a very bad day for a lot of teams

You along with the other fans that stayed to the end last night deserve a large round of applause, there was a window and they shot for it had there been little chance we like the rest of the people wanted to head, if you look back another ten min. and the show would have been over.

Spencer Racing has the upmost respect for all the people that run race tracks across the U.S. but we deal with Gas City and Kokomo on a regular basis and in our opinion they are the best around. :8: I would not and could not have dealt with the pressure the O'Connors faced last night, rain moveing in, how big of a crowd, how much food do we fix (waste if it does rain) what to do with the race track and so on. We were told once, you prepare the track to race on and go from there. Reece is the best around hands down.

I think everyone involved from putting on the show to drivers, crews and fans wanted to see the whole show. With the early rain delay we busted our butts to get the show in as fast as we could but in a safe racing condition for the drivers. At NO point will Kokomo Speedway put it's drivers in danger to get a race in when the rain has started the way it did last night and we dont want anyone to get hurt or tear up there equipment. We did push off the A main last night as sprinkles started in hopes it would let up and heat from cars and tires could save track, but more importantly was to rememeber Josh Burton their fellow teammate. That was the main reason and once the rain got harder we told drivers to exit track. Im gonna go out on a limb here and if wasnt for the red flag in heat 2 when a car cleared the fence we might have been able to get the sprint feature in. I say that because last sun we ran the 25 lap feature caution free in 6min 37 sec. Had we have went green I guarantee you that proably least half of the cars would have gotten tore up or worse. As far as payouts the feature drivers will get paid after it is ran this Sun. The dates for make up features are as follows, Sprints this Sun June 2nd, Street Stocks June 30, UMP Modifieds July 3, Thunder cars July 28. This was done because we do run a sun night program. As far as feature first I believe not 100% sure, they will hot lap normal way then run feature 1st. May have to rotate ss and thunder cars to give sprints time. to get ready for the heats for reg show and thats not 100% jmo. We appericate everyone who stuck around and took a chance as we all know the weather here so far this spring hasnt been good to tracks throughout Indiana.
