Sprintcar front axle question

What length tie rod do I need to use with a 52" front axle? I don't mean what the assembled measurement should be, just need to know which tie rod to use.

Depends on your steering arms.

The one on my 52" axle is 47" end to end

Re: Sprintcar front axle question

speaking of front ends i have a question
what advantage is there running a 52 or 53" front axle over a 50 in a wingless?
i have been told i should put a 53" in, but no one can tell me why.
Thanks

Pretty sure it's a stability thing...wider trackwidth on the front end with the extra out to the right will help keep the car from tripping over the RF and will help keep the LR from lifting off the ground....Winged cars are buried over on the LR and trying to pull the RF off the ground so the close it is to the chassis the less likely it is to unload.

Good explanation.

thanks for that
if I go from a 50 to a 53, would i have to go up in bar size as it changes the wheel motion ratio? or is it to small a change to worry about
thanks again for the reply.

Don't know what bars your running with your 50" axle, but I'll tell you what I run with a 53" axle and that is a 1.050 bar in the RF and a 1.000 in the LF,depending on track conditions and what kind of cross weight your running you can also use a 1.025 in the RF.

A longer axle on the right front will also help load the left rear in turn making the car be more left rear tight... And also correct on the stability!

What torsion bar you run will depend on wheel offset also. It isn't a one size fits all issue. Depends on the track, conditions, etc.

I would scale it set up as you have in the past, then change front axles and put it back on the scales and see where it is. Then run it. But rule of thumb is that the farther out that RF is, the less weight it will have on it.
