Trying to identify 1982 NANCE sprint

I am looking for the history of a 1982 Nance sprint car frame that was purchased from E-bay some time ago.The gentleman who won it was from Pennsylvania. He said the car was from southern Indiana . The chassis came with a tailtank which is now pictured. Would anyone remember anything about this particular car or previous owner?? thanks, rc

The number was 44 and was in shiny type decal. Would anyone remember anything about this particular car? thanks, rc

The car describe from above sounds like Mike Thurman. He ran a car #44 for many years, and several of those years were trimmed in Black & Yellow, and other bright colors with a shiny number. I think he was from deep down in Illinois though.

Well, I did get in touch with Mike Thurman who lives in Missouri and it definately was his tank. It was on his 1988 Oz car.So now I need to find out how it came together with this 1982 Nance frame. This frame has side bars added on the cage. Duke Cook ran a Nance like this but it was prior to 1982.Now i'm thinking this frame could be from Missouri or Illinois in addition to Indiana even though it was picked up in southern indiana. So I'm hoping someone from the different states may see this post and recognize the frame. I appreciate everyones responses and input. Sometime you never do establish the origin of a car but I can't quit yet...

You might try Chris Paulsen at C&R. He used to work for Nance.

Thinking back to guys who ran with Thurman in 1982, the Springfield guys such as Tommy Scott had a Nance with those bars on the cage, Rick Standridge and Rick Pennel also ran Nances during the early 1980's. I would look into that circle of racers for clues.
