I am new to this and have never ran a chain before. Looking to run eldora this weekend. Didnt know if someone could give me a good idea on the gearing for that place? I have know clue on a starting place. I have a stock 05-06 GSXR1000. or is eldora to much for that motor? maybe I should wait until a smaller track? Just trying to feel out some Ideas. Thanks

Re: gearing for Eldora?
Hey Brandon,
Check out GearingCommander.com. You can plug in your make/model/year on your motor, then plug in different sprocket combinations in the green custom squares. It will give you top speed and top rpm's through all 6 gears based on your sprocket choices. I watched a YouTube video of a 1000cc at Eldora for the open test. His avearage lap times around the top were 100.5 - 102mph, so there's a little bit of a starting point. I've been going back and forth on the race, but I've got too many cracked parts on my car after running through the holes at Bloomington the other week to be ready in time. It would be an awesome event to be a part of, but if one of these cars hits something at that speed, that's probably the end of that set of wheels. The strategist in me would rather run about 5 more races this season and come back next year rather than show up at Eldora and go home with a bucket of scrap metal. I'm not saying you can't get tore up at a 1/5 or 1/4 mile, but when you're talking about adding 30-50mph to your average lap times, well, you can do the math. Good Luck!!! Scotty |
