Is the engine in this car half of a Buick V8? I shared this on Facebook and I was asked if that is half of a Buick V8 in the midget. After closer examination, my question is whether this is a midget or a sprint car? Looking at the tires, it appears likely that it is a sprint car, which would mean that is a whole Buick V8.

Ron that's a midget. Wish I had a close up of the motor for you.

That is a 215 cu in, all aluminum Buick V8, 1961-1964 I believe, were available in the Buick, and Olds, med size cars of the era. The 215 is still in production, GM gave all the drawings, and patterns to Land Rover, which they currently use today. Just like the Ford 60hp, it was still being built, and available in an automobile, as late as 1957, by then it was in a Simca, same deal, Ford gave the patterns and drawings to the foreign market. I put a lot of the 215's in Vegas, the V8 was 40 lbs lighter then the 4cyl, and much more Hp and reliability. Bob!

Thanks! After my post, I wondered if it might be a 215 BOP V8. That engine was used in Buick, Olds and Pontiac cars (Tempest). Olds had a turbocharged version.
