Anyone think it would be cool to see irp. Build a dirt track?

Just when you think you have heard it all.:16 I had no idea that IRP (ORP, LORP, LOR or whatever they call it today) was originally a dirt track. How long was it dirt and when did they change it over to asphalt? Inquiring minds want to know.:3:

1961 I believe it was dirt, Changed to Asphalt the next year

Pretty sure it only ran as dirt for one race. Probably running behind on getting it paved. Think it was a Memorial day weekend.

As cool as it would be to see a dirt track there...The current NHRA regime would just make it miserable to be there. $4.00 waters and $6.00 hamburgers and dirt fans will not work together.

Where is the first track in central indiana? Other then the mile at the fairgrounds. You have to drive thirty minutes to three hour to get to any of the track around indiana depending on which one you are going to.
