Dirt Track conditions in Indiana

After a lot of moaning and groaning on the board about track conditions, I'll defend promoters.

We haven't had rain in three weeks, so any water applied to a track is going to run right through. With the low groundwater tables the water can only sink through the surface, it isn't going to stick to it.

Now it is in the 90's and we have daylight savings time. This makes ALL races day shows for the most part, which is tough on dirt tracks.

Face it folks, if the weather doesn't break, there will be a lot of dry slick race tracks, and it won't be the promotors fault. Though it may not be our favorite type of surface, lets enjoy what we have. It's a lot better than nothing.

I'll take not getting rained out for the rest of the summer and dry tracks!

Ask Keith Hall, after he lost the track it went downhill. They never raced the big cars in the summer time.

Re: Dirt Track conditions in Indiana

Many parts of Indiana haven't had measureable precipitation since the beginning of May. Track operators are at the mercy of Mother Nature right now and need our support even more. They all are trying their very best to prep the tracks as best at possible. However, with temperatures in the 90's with some wind, this is their worst enemy.

Now on to something way more important than track conditions. The farmers are in desperate need of rain and with the extended forecast not looking very promising. With the economic climate being what it is, many are looking down the barrel of a gun. Our thoughts and prayers for all of the midwest farmers are needed at this time. For many of them, their lives depend on this. This is their job.

In this pre-drought atmosphere, the tracks, promoters & drivers alike need our support even more cause not for us fans there would be no racing. I have to respectfully disagree with taking a dry dusty track over a rain-out, if i have to miss a race for the better good of the track then bring it on.

Some of the best races I've ever seen or been a part of were on dry slick tracks.. You don't have to run wide open with mud flying all night to see a good race..
