The Slime in Sportscar Racing
This is not an anti-sportscar piece as I've dabbled a bit in that game and enjoy watching a few, but more the money men in the sport.

There's been a few more sportscar team owners as well in recent years that have ran afoul of the authorities. We may all rightly criticize the people that run our fair sport or think the rules get gamed by a few owners or that someone is cushy with the rulesmakers, but let's all thank that these men are mostly legal in their daily lives not screwing over the rest of society. :3: |

Anybody remember that owner that Doug Wofgang drove for in the late 1980's? Wasn't he and his family defrauding the federal government and using the money to fund Wolfgang's team?
This story made me think of this. |

Re: The Slime in Sportscar Racing
Thank you Oljonesy for including Henrick. I always laugh when the NASCAR shills talk about what a great person he is. His ducking prison rates as one of the biggest con jobs in history.

Re: The Slime in Sportscar Racing
Don't know much about the present sports car guys but John Paul Sr. was/is a very bad character and drug his kid, Paul Jr. into his bad dealings. Although it's not known how deeply Paul Jr. was involved in his dads mess, he had a tough time with sponsors and owners of it as a result. He got a bit of a bad rap 'cause he refused to testify against Paul Sr., but he probably figured he'd end up dead if he did.
The authorities still don't know what happened to the woman that disappeared while living with Paul Sr. or his whereabouts to this day. Speculation is he's either dead or living in Europe. Nasty stuff. Read an article on Kenny Weld quite a while ago. I think it was in Open Wheel magazine. Kenny was eyeballs deep in some really bad stuff for a while but I don't think he ever was accused of killing somebody. |

Here is the case itself:
