USAC Midget Maynia

So the guy that led lap 1 led every lap in all three races this weekend. Hope there was a pass or two somewhere in the field to keep the fans awake. Now...back to the dirt!

So just because you read that each race was won by a driver leading wire to wire means that it was a boring race? Well I was at two of the three and there was passing throughout the field and an exciting battle for the lead at the two races I made it to. And from what I hear at LaCrosse there was a pretty good battle for the lead all race long. Chad Boat made a charge after Galedridge last night at Slinger to make it an exciting finish. Today the top four spots were all over each other. Olson was running just the right line to hold of the charging Swanson. Between East, Swanson and Armstrong either one of those three could have won but just because you are faster doesnt mean you are always going to win. Catching a guy is one thing, passing him is a different story! Congratulations to Dave Darland for winning Friday at LaCrosse! Congrats to Bradley Galedridge on his first National win at Slinger! Congrats to Brian Olson on his first National win at Rockford!

Thanks lowlife 517. I have been hoping this board would get another person to post on races they don't attend. Hope they had good crowds.

For the weather that both SLinger and Rockford had they werepretty good crowds. Had it been a about ten to fifteen degrees warmer it would have been better crowds. At slinger we dealt with two separate rains howers that put a hamper on things but we were still done at 9:30.

Today, Swanson actually made a great pass on Olson but had to give back the lead because of a caution. That kid ran the outside most of the day and made it one helluva race. The heat races were pretty good, aside from Dakoda Armstrong straight-up dumping David Byrne in the B-feature, but that's what you have to expect on these bullrings.

At Slinger, Galeridge led wire-to-wire, but there wasn't much room to pass. The track was way too fast and everyone just rode around the bottom, waiting for someone to make a mistake. That said, it was still exciting - put a few marbles in the bottom of a mixing bowl and spin it around real fast - that's what those cars looked like last night.

I'm hoping someone has pictures of the Winner's Circle from Friday at La Crosse! I forgot my camera!!!!:headbang Dang it!
Dave said, "Were you hoping I wouldn't win because you forgot your camera"? LOL!:O:

Obviously, I wasn't there or I would have been aware that there was some racing through the field. When you can't go you have to rely on print to get information. (And Midgy with her updates, God Bless Her!) However, after reading what little has been printed my observation is still that 4 of the last 5 pavement races have been led start to finish by the same driver. This is in no way derogatory against the winner. He has to stay there to win! I just like the dirt where a guy can start in the back of the field and actually contend for a win! Now that's a good race!

This is another example of numbers telling the truth but not the whole truth.

It's also another example that there is nothing like being there.

And with that, good night Susan, wherever you are.:checkered:
