The Great Shock Debate!

With there being multiple shock manufactures out there anymore I was wondering who would be the go to shock manufacture to start my collection of shocks. Also is there a need for double adjustable shocks around all 4 corners of the car or is it reasonable to have say a LR double adjustable and the rest regular.
