Question about the future of the Action Track
 

Did I read on this board before that the concessions at the Terre Haute Action Track are already contracted to some one for multiple years and if so what promoter would even consider taking on the Track with out the chance to make that money.

to Jiggs,Dave,Judy & Mike,Kieth Ford,Tommie,Joe any other track owners/promoters would you run a racing program if you could not control the profits form the sell of concessions at your track!!

So a track that gets 20 dollars for one class can't pay the purse and put some money in the $$?

"One of these was my long delayed realisation that I was missing out on one of the most profitable of promotional activities: the catering rights. When I took over Rowley Park Speedway (Adelaide,South Australia) I unwisely leased these to various organisations,which had been quietly coining money over the years. At last I managed to take them back under my own wing and I found that the profits from selling soft drinks,pies,pasties and similar items far exceeded those from the gate money. By then attendances had already started to decline because more and more people were staying at home to watch "the box" instead of the thrilling to real adventures".

Pay your Help track Prep,pushtrucks,pit help,ticket booths if it is a night race lights any other power some may have to pay water & sewer how about Insurance maybe a bond for damage that might be done pay someone to clean up after it is not just the purse being paid out lot things to consider.

I am sure that these Track owner/promoters are not getting rich and if the fair board did contract some one for the food I don't think anyone could try and promote there with that lost income.

someone said a corn dog was $3.50 how much do you think was profit

if who ever is running the food stands is smart they have contacted local non-profit ORGs. to have them work the booths with there people for a donation to the group no paying the help just donate and have a tax right off to boot

With all due respect to the youngsters who work in the concession stand, the food and drinks there have always been way overpriced and frankly not very good at all compared to other tracks. Only time I buy something there is when the ribeye guy sets up shop. Usually way undermanned and slow to boot.

At least with the Vigo County Fair happening during ISW, there will be expanded "dining" options! ;)

A couple of years ago a couple of buddies and I ate there 2 hot dogs and a large coke was dam near 10.00 bucks. Thank goodness the cars were loud and fast cuz them dogs gave me the worst gas I ever had :2:
