Terre Haute, Sumar - What Went Right

Respectfully reserve the negatives for the other post.

#1 The race that almost did not happen almost did happen. To me the race, the race track is hallowed ground. Standing in turn four and staring down that daunting front stretch gives me goosebumps. To lose this bit of history and the memories of the ferocious battles fought by steely heroic drivers would be beyond sad.

#2 Though by accident the fan access to the pits was the high point of an otherwise dismal day. The fans were polite, engaging and were quite aware of the surroundings and never in the way. These fans are stellar and we could not do what we do without them. They deserve more than what they are getting for their loyalty.

My $.02 worth, thanks for listening.

The pit access was a cool perk that I wasn't expecting and a really great thing out of yesterday.

I liked seeing the kids playing with the water hose in the infield. I also saw two girls buying tickets. All they had were their coolers, and no boyfriends. Looked like the good old day's. Even though the races fell through, it looked like a good party.

If you claim to have the best interest of this sport at heart Remember this Jim Stovall quote;
* * *
“You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins.”
