Rescheduled king of the wings sunday
HOLLY, Mich. – The “World’s Fastest Short Track Cars” of the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series travel to the historic Winchester Speedway to challenge the high banks on Sunday June 19th.
The “King Of The Wings” Sprint Car Challenge at Winchester Speedway on Sunday afternoon, June 19 at Winchester is one of the most notable and intimidating racing venues in the world, serving as a perfect host for the lightning-fast winged sprint cars of the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series. Gates open at 10 a.m., with racing getting underway at 2 p.m. A full complement of racers will assemble for the annual event, including Jason Blonde who set the world’s record at the Bristol Motor Speedway’s Speed Trials with an average speed of 144.871 on the half mile track. Others expected to vie for the spotlight are Aaron Pierce, Xtreme Sprint Series winner at Salem Speedway; 2010 MSRXSS Champion and recent winner at Berlin Raceway Troy DeCaire, past “King Of The Wings” winner Jimmy McCune, California’s JoJo Helberg and perennial fan favorite Jeff Bloom. A crowded roster of racers will be there to challenge, including Hank Lower, Canada’s Ryan Litt, Tim Cox, Jason Cox, Sondi Eden, Dave Baumgartner, Jacob Wilson, Davey Hamilton Racing’s Mike Larrison and Florida’s Travis Miniea, among others. Fans will look forward to a host of entertaining activities during the events, including a “hands-on” show car, t-shirt and merchandise giveaways, along with a driver autograph session. One lucky race fan will win a day driving a sprint car at the Dirt Track Driving School. Also, popular writer and broadcaster Dave Argabright will autograph two of his books for two fans picked by a random drawing from general admission ticket holders. Race fans can also get up close and personal to several MSRXSS cars and drivers on Saturday, June 18th in downtown Winchester, Indiana as a part of the “Manifolds On Main Street JuneFest” car show. The “King Of The Wings” event will be televised on a tape-delayed basis with well-known broadcaster Rick Benjamin serving as the play-by-play host, Hall of Fame driver Tom Bigelow providing color commentary and longtime writer and broadcaster Dave Argabright reporting the action in the pits. The Xtreme Sprint Series features powerful winged sprint cars with 800-plus horsepower and are considered the world’s fastest short track racing machines. Based in Holly, Michigan, the series enters its second season of competition in 2011. The series is presented by North Carolina biotechnology company BIOBASED USA ((www.biobased.us), a leading manufacturer of Soy Soap and other green products. Yep...this is gonna be a barn burner. Expect to see DeCaire, Blonde, McCune. Baumgartner, Cox's, Helberg, Adams, Miniea, Pierce, Lower, Litt, Bloom, and Wilson. In my opinion this has the makings to be one of the better pavement shows of the year in this area.
