Steve Savage - Update
UMARA Co-Owner & Crew Chief of Corson/Savage Racing Steve Savage is currently undergoing treatment for MCL leukemmia at Northwestern Memorial Prentice Hospital. Steve began his chemotherapy treatment this past Friday and will have a stem cell transplant on Thursday and will be hospitalized until the first of May if all goes well.
Get well wishes can be sent to: Steve Sauvageau c/o Northwestern Mem'l Prentice Hospital 250 E Superior Room 1584 Chicago IL 60611 or if you have his cell number give him a call. UPDATE: The transplant was moved to Friday and while he tolerated the procedure well, he has had a few problems. They are not unexpected but are there none the less. We did understand that this week will be the week of side effects. There were no side effects from the chemo he received. Just headaches, and an ear problem which are a result of the transfusion. The great staff at Northwestern are keeping good tabs on him. He wanted me to Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. They are appreciated. |

Re: Steve Savage
Steve is one of those people I always look forward to seeing each year at the Rumble. He told me in December about what is going on. He was pretty sick then, but still at the track both days with a ton of spirit.
Hang in there, Steve. You and Rich Corson will be kicking but again pretty soon. Jim |
Re: Steve Savage
I raced with Steve back during the WWAR midget days and he always had a smile on his face. He was always willing to help out a racer in need of a part or advice. I wish him all the best as he goes through his treatments.
