Ecotec wins!!!
 

Great job by the Fenton brothers and Kevin Bayer! Tim Fenton entered both of his RRE ECOtec Midgets at West Siloam to run with the new Southern Open Wheel Series. This new group - put together by Cody Brewer - is welcoming participation by ECOtec powered cars and is even offering an extra $100.00 to the top finishing ECOtec. :6:

I'm not sure if they realized that from time to time they may be adding that $100.00 to the first place money, but that is what Kevin Bayer made 'em do on Saturday, passing the Esslinger machine of Matt Sherrill on the final lap for the win. Chris Bell's 174 Fontana was next follwed by the Esslinger of Will Pierce, and rounding out the top 5 was Eric Fenton in the other RRE ECOtec.

Car owner Tim Fenton called me last week to tell me of his plans to enter this event. He told me "We're going to get our A$$'s handed to us against all those big motors, but we got nothing else to do and at least there's a C-note in it for us." I told him that he should keep his chin up and that although he did not have the biggest engine, I have seen these ECOtec's hold their own on short tracks many times already. Well, Tim called again this morning to say "I see what you mean!"
