HOSS and AVSS Partnership

From www.supersprints.com

Sunday, 20 March 2011 20:02
"The owners of two of the premier pavement sprint car series in the midwest, Tony Swanson of the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series based in Indiana and Tom Hartsell from the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Supersprint series based out of Michigan met today and reached an agreement to form a support alliance to insure car count at each ones sanctioned events. Also today it was agreed to continue to use Hoosier Tire as the official tire of the two series. Hoosier has supported both groups for a number of years and will continue for years to come.
Also today both owners agreed to combine both groups at several events this coming racing season. The announcement of specific events will be made in the near future. As of now between twenty and twenty five events will be produced between the two sanctioning bodies some combined, some by HOSS and some by AVBBSS this summer."

Car counts up hopefully?

:)

Refreshing to see 2 sanctioning bodies work together. In these financial times the others should take note.

It seems that pre-MSRXSS these series didn't really step on each others toes too often. I haven't been to a MSRXSS show yet, but hope to make one this year. Regardless in this economy I am glad to see that there is enough cars between the three series to run this many races. I don't see all three lasting, and this press release kind of seems to already imply there will be one less series in the future.

With Spartan running non-wing every other weekend and these winged cars, I could see pavement sprints almost every weekend. I know the long and rambling posts on here about the death of pavement racing really just means the rebirth.

I am probably going to go to the Winchester show, Salem is a little too far. I shoot at South Buxton every Saturday from April 30 to September 24. While I do enjoy the work and it is my home track, I sure miss out on a lot of good Saturday night races. If we rain out early enough and a show is close enough I will try and make it, otherwise I am limited to holidays, Fridays and Sundays within a reasonable distance.

For those that have never been to a winged pavement race, it is definitely something to see in person and just like any other form of racing, video does not do it justice.

I shoot the video for several of the HOSS events over the past couple seasons and have really grown to appreciate winged racing on pavement, mainly keeping in mind that at a winged pavement race, it is not the same as a winged dirt race. Do not show up expecting to see them sideways in the corners or slide jobs or anything of that nature.

However, the racing is close and the speeds are still pretty extraordinary and definitely worth checking out whether it be an MSRXSS, HOSS, or AVBBSS race.

April 10th MustSee kicks their season off at Salem, but if that's too far of a drive for some of you, April 30th HOSS kicks their season off at Auto City Speedway in Michigan, followed by race #2 of the HOSS Season May 14th at Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
