I saw in NSSN's 50 years ago spot that the average Sprintcar purse was $5,000+.
It is no wonder teams go broke. 50 years without a major purse increase is unbelieveable.

Don, that was $5000 for the total purse,not the amount to win.

The Consumer Price Index in '60 was 29.8, compared to 218.8 in '10. So, theoretically, the purses should be about 7 times higher today.
