Any sprint car tracks in East Texas?

It looks like I am going to be stuck here until the first of the year. I might as well make the most of it.
I can't find much on open wheel here, mostly drag racing. Your help is appreciated.

Where in East Texas are you located?

Mark,

I lived in Beaumont for 6 years. There is NOT MUCH around there for racing in general, especially open wheel.

This time of year also makes it tougher. People up north think they race year round, but they actually take some time off too, so I doubt there will be anything until January.

If there was, Houston Raceway Park, or Devil's Bowl up by Dallas would be the places to check. There are a few other tracks, but they are mostly cars with fenders.

Yeah, you're screwed until March, and even then it'll be wings. I think there's a 600 race in Conroe, TX indoors at some facility, but it's not until after the first of the year.

You're welcome to come over and talk racing on Sundays if you want while I work on our cars for the 2011 season.

Mark,

When I use to travel a lot more, I never left home without The National Speedway Directory. The online version is even better: http://speedwaysonline.com

I'm at work, so I didn't check the schedules, but they should have something if it's happening.

No racing for the rest of the year. Battleground just finished off their season with The Texas Grand (no sprint cars). USMTS will be at Royal Purple Raceway (HRP in Baytown) in February, as well as the WoO. The ASCS will also be at RPR and Battleground Speedway, as well as Golden Triangle Raceway Park near Beaumont.

Tim and Carey, my son Kyle has taken a job in Houston and will be moving down after Christmas. We plan to have him take the 360 with him. He will be living in an apartment so we need to find space for the sprint car. Would you guys know anybody who might be willing to let him use a corner of their shop or something to maintain the car? He'll be on his own so any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Dan Chady

Tim what town are you in? I might stop by in my travels around the region.

Mark,

I live in Splendora - it's about 30 miles north of Houston, or about 150-200 miles south of where you are. I'll PM my phone number.

You will be able to find some good races in that area, but probably not a lot of sprint cars. Obviously, there are a lot of tracks in the DFW area with the best known being Devils Bowl. Not sure about the weekly program, but they do have several ASCS shows throughout the year. The next track to look at will LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore. They also have some special shows (WOO and ASCS) There are also a couple of tracks around the Shreveport area. There is also a traveling 305 series that races several times a month.

I would suggest going to www.elbowsup.com It is focused on the racing in the DFW and surrounding areas.
