Who cares
How about a thread that tells what Tony Stewart has done for so many people that are in need of a little help.
I know for a fact that Brad Anderson (nephew) had a foot removed, came to Kokomo to watch Josh had a chance to meet Tony ( his favorite driver) and to this day tells anyone that will listen about the time Tony spent with him, Brad has had some setbacks but to make Tony proud of him keeps pushing on. I respect Tony for the things he has done off the track and really don't care who he is dating . (no disrespect intended) Like most of the famous people we read about or watch on TV we need to remember that they are just people like you and me, we also need to give them a little room. J.M.O. Re: Who cares
:6:I think a better answer to this post is name one person in racing who has given more than Tony. Has Jeff Gordon given more? Name one racer who has given more to charity than Tony. I thought one year he gave 1,000,000 dollars to charity, but I can't back up that claim.
Here is a link to what Tony has given up to 2008? http://www.scenedaily.com/lifestyle/...the_year_.html When it comes to giving their are few. I think the Petty's have given more and do more than Tony. JJ has his own charity and Ryan Newman gives to pets. Some people love thier pets more than people. It's not uncommon to leave more to a pet than a human being. But not that this post is not important, but I think what Tony wants more in life than a girlfriend is a win in the WoO. I think that is one reason why he helps so many people in the WoO. One thing is for certain, if you are a racer and racing is your life, like Tony you give because you know what it feels like to have nothing. I'm sure there are many times Tony felt he had nothing. Since he wants so much more in life he is willing to pay for it. And you can't take it with you. You might as well share it, while you can and while people can appreciate it. I wish I had an idea I could share, but I don't know Tony. Nor do I care, but one thing I hope for Tony is that one day he can win a WoO race. I think that is one dream Tony would pay 10 million dollars for. By the time it ends I wouldn't be surprized if he sinks 40 million into the dream. Let's hope Tony get's his dream. Since this is a post about Him. Sincerely, Larry Otani:22: And God Bless you all and sorry for the bad post I posted. It was in bad taste, but meant well. |
Re: Who cares
Heard Kyle Bush signed over a wining check to help Sam Ards a former GN driver who has fallen on hard times due to medical issues. Also Kevin Harvick bought him a customized wheelchair van to get around. Can anyone verify this??

Re: Who cares
I respect the guys who DON"T toot their own horn. Tony isn't the only one, but I know their are a lot of people he has helped that people will never hear about, and I am glad he's done it.

Re: Who cares
I know that "winning check to help Sam Ards a former GN driver who has fallen on hard times" was a big deal and Kyle:6: winning and running all those truck races for free also.
I know this post was about personal and humanitarian needs. Hope some people can remember a few. I don't have any. Sincerely, Larry Otani |
Re: Who cares
I had a neat experience one evening. I had to put new ball joints on my F250 and we had it all back together and when I went to put my new grease fittings in they hit my knuckles on front axles. It was almost 10 o clock at night and my buddy said let me call my buddy, he has some special fittings for that application. He makes a phone call and 30 minutes later some guy is walking in with grease fittings...they all stand around and BS while I am finishing my truck. Once the guy left I asked my buddy who that guy was, he said Nelson Stewart, Tony's dad! I was floored, what a normal Joe he is. I couldn't believe a guy would do that for someone else......if Tony is anything like his dad, he is an ok guy!

Re: Who cares
Small scale, but big scale. I remember Dave Darland taking his winnings from Kokomo Speedway Sunday nites and driving to give all of them to help Tracy Hines. Who was in time of need. This happened many times when Tracy was hurt. Also in tow was Daves wife Brenda to cut Tracys hair. God that felt good and the two race each other for a life time. Deep and real feelings for these guys. Brings tears. Sorry

Re: Who cares
I spent the better part of a day at Kyle and Patty Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp near Level Cross, North Carolina. I came away with a totally different outlook on some big name drivers who maybe aren't fan favorites but give of their time and money as freely as anyone around. There are whole buildings there that were fully funded by people some would consider unlikely doners.
If you're ever in the Randleman-Level Cross, North Carolina area stop in and look around a little. The folks who help run it are as accomodating as it is possible to be and you will come away with a renewed confidence in mankind, even if it only lasts 'till the next time someone flips you off on the freeway. I'm not taking anything away from Tony Stewart but there are several who do just as much and do their best to stay out of the limelight. |
