Andrew Update #57
It has been a little while since I last posted anything about my grandson Andrew. We spent some time recently with him and his new little brothers. I am happy to report that Andrew is doing exceptionally well and for that we have so very much to be thankful for.
The doctors are starting to reduce the medication that he is on and he also now only has to have a MRI every four months instead of quarterly. Small steps for sure but so very encouraging at this point in time. Next year he is scheduled to start kindergarten. My son and daughter-in-law were concerned if he is ready to go or not. They contacted the local school corporation and they suggested that they bring him in and they could doing some testing to see if he is indeed ready? The results have come back and they say that he would have been ready this year if he would have been old enough to go. Nothing to be concerned about and they were extremely pleased to get this news. He is great with the little guys helping in anyway he can. I thought since he has been the center of attention for so long, that it could present some problems. Not so at this point, but the twins aren't old enough yet to get into his toys either. That might present some issues when that happens.:3: As we approach the holiday season, I would be remiss if I didn't again thank so many folks who have followed along on Andrew's journey. Your prayers, gifts, cards, comments and encouragement have been certainly heard loud and clear. It still amazes me how many people who don't know any of my family have been so wonderful during an extremely difficult time in our lives. It just goes to show how great race fans really can be. Our eyes are still wide open and we realize that there are no cures for this type of cancer. The encouraging part is that 11 other kids are on the same protocol as Andrew and all 11 of them are still alive. They are on different paths of the schedule, and they are from all around the country being treated at different health care facilities. One common denominator. Tomorrow when we sit down to enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, I will have so very much to be thankful for again. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and reflect back on what you have to be thankful for. We continue to Dream, Hope and Believe. Thanks for caring. Hope to see you at the races. |

Mike,
Thanks so much for the update on Andrew. So encouraging... Kindergarten will be nothing for him after what he has been through. Enjoy your Traditional Thanksgiving with your Family as we will be doing the same here in NY. We look forward to more good news. Happy Thanksgiving... Pete G. |
Re: Andrew Update #57
As you might guess, Mike, I was pretty well soaked today. But.....whatever nuisance walking around in the rain all day may be, reading about Andrew's progress makes the irritants irrelevant.
May God bless and keep you and yours on this most special holiday.:23: |
