I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to post on here about this. Growing up and and still living outside the motor city I hope this is a good thing. I've only worked in the automotive industry and love to see the traditional big three succeed. I don't care if they are rebranded valve covers. The marketing hype is in action and I'm glad to see changes in Indy.

This is some of the best news I've heard in a while. Got a new car coming that's going to be cheaper, with an American auto maker involving themselves within the series, should start to build interest. This is what the people wanted, and Bernard is giving it to us. Great great news.

I would love to see Chevy get involved with the development of some of the parts for the cars as well. Since anybody can make certain pieces, why not?

This is great news. Not only are MY tax dollars building corvettes and cadillacs, they now get to go Indy car racing. What a great deal for the taxpayer.

SPEED is going to stream the Chevy announcement at 10am this morning at http://stream.speed.com (or it could be http://stream.speedtv.com if they haven't converted that link yet...)

What's positive with spending my tax dollars to improve a private corporations business. It is like giving someone a raise while you're doing their job. It just isn't right.

I'd rather see them pay the taxpayer back, then go racing, instead of going racing on the taxpayers back.

I'll try and walk a fine line here and not have my post get removed.
We the the tax payers are the main "stock holders" of GM
If chevy was doing the engineering of the indy engine here in USA.
If chevy was building the the engine in the USA.
If chevy was rebuilding them in the USA.
I would be thinking my tax dollars were being spent well.
If all they are doing is putting a chevy valve cover on a England product I'm not for that.
Here in Grand Rapids we lost a GM stamping plant. It was a 2 million sq foot plant. Over 3000 workers lost their jobs. Plus all the jobs in other support business.
What has this to do with open wheel racing? This year when USAC raced at Berlin. The crowds were way down. MMMM no job--no go to races.

Correct me if I'm wrong, GM payed back their loan in full early with ALL interest from remaining months of loan. From a GM dealer employee, its good to see the company making a profit, and able to continue its presence in motorsports.

No, you aren't wrong. They even paid back all the fees that they had to pay, even though they were early.

People don't get into racing because it's cool, they get into it because it's great marketing. This is a good marketing strategy! Get back into it when the cars are made here, and someone can honestly have a fully american team, with cars made here, engines made here, and drivers from here.

Thumbs up to Chevy!

Also, on that note, why aren't you pitching a fit about the US Army, or the National Guard sponsoring race teams? Where do you think that money comes from?
