New Dirt Track In Cheeseland

Last night i went to an IRA sprint show at a track i haven't been to in 30 years. It use to be a quarter mile pavement track and last fall they converted it to a third mile dirt track. Very nice track with some good banking in the turns, new restrooms, and not a bad seat in the house. They also have a bar with plenty of seats and two tv's. You can even see a good portion of the track while sitting inside the bar. The website is www.141speedway.com Some pictures from last night can be seen at www.danlewisphoto.net Not many shots of the facility but there is a few mixed in. I hope more sprint shows are booked cause this is a cool track and it's only about 45 minutes from home. It was great to see how things have changed in 30 years, but then again a lot of things were the same. :8:

Here's an easier way to see those photos. Type in 141 Speedway Photos, then click on 2010 photos, then click on 5/30/10 Racing.

Nice to hear of a new dirt track in place of them closing.

Tim,

You mention "not a bad seat in the house". My question, was there a bad seat in the bar?:14::19::3:

I wonder if USAC will ever go there! That would be awesome!
Halfway home for me!:8:
PS I met Jim Barr, (Topwing), IRA Flagman. He said he knows your Dad!
It was very nice to meet him!

No bad seats in the bar either. :6: Here's another good thing that other tracks should catch on with. You know how you sometimes end up sitting behind someone in a stadium seat and your knees push right into the back of that chair? Here's the solution, they have some school bus seats bolted down on the top few rows on the turn 4 end of the track. Yeah they will get hot until the sun goes down but they serve a purpose for someone with a back problem. I should have taken a picture. :15:

The track would be perfect for a non wing show but USAC just doesn't draw to this area and not many local guys would take the top off to run with them. It sure would be great if it ever happened though. For now i'm just hoping for a IRA/Badger show sometime, midgets would be awesome on that track. The track kind of reminded me of Lima, a little narrower and a slight less bank in the turns. The place rocks! :6:
