I Love Indiana
Well it was another fun filled weekend for us cheeseheads to stray outside the cheese curtain and come back to Indiana for 3 nights of racing. It was great to see all the friends i have made the last couple years and meet a few new faces as well. My Dad made his first trip to the Burg and Kokomo and really enjoyed seeing both tracks, got to give credit to Dad to sleep a couple nights in a van seat in not so favorable night time temps as he will turn 70 in just a month. The racing the first two nights was pretty good then what can you say about that feature at Kokomo, top notch. My Dad said "there's just to :21: much to watch at one time"! I can't wait to come back in June for 3 nights of Midget Week cause with the splitting amongst the midget ranks here in Wisconsin i don't know how much racing will be worth seeing? Thanks again for all the hospitality, and thanks to Mud Packer for all the directions. I Love Indiana! :6: :32:

I only had two days of sprint cars, and an ARCA race on my third day two weeks ago. But my sediments exactly. Only in Indiana can I go to four racetracks in three days. Lots of nice people, lots of good racetrack food and some good racing. I was gonna try to sleep in the car, but I chickened out (about 33-35 degrees).
We don't have tenderloins here in Canada (at least not breaded and on a bun), so that is just an added bonus. I did notice something funny about my travels. I entered the state in Fort Wayne (home of my yearly Xmas vacation at the Coliseum), saw a race in Gas City, realized there was practice in Anderson so I stopped there, saw a race at LPS, tried to get a hotel room in Bloomington on my way to a race in Salem. Drove through Brownstown, North Vernon and Lawrenceburg all on my way back home. If you guys aren't happy with all those options, then I don't know what to tell you. I know I probably wouldn't be married, and I would be certain that the 40 something races I went to last year was too few if I live in Indiana. |
Re: I Love Indiana
Tim, it was GREAT to see you again, especially because this time we finally got to spend some time talking. Loved the cheese, especially the square chunks flavored with horseradish. :6: I shared it with all the Section "A" denizens who would partake, but it seems most were dieting or had their fill at Bob and Monica's motorhome. Darn the luck, I had to take a good sized sack home with me. ;)
I think I might have seen your Dad headed up the steps during one of the downtime periods. This gentleman had on a "Doty" cap and there were other telltale WI clues. But, he was up and gone before I could say "Howdy". I was trying to recover feeling in my brasswitchdiggers at the time. I'd never make it in WI. :17: Again, THANKS for stopping by and for the cheese. Look forward to more visiting during IN Midget Week. :32: |
Re: I Love Indiana
I second the "I love Indiana" statement. I really enjoy the times I have come out to see races out that way.
