Fun with the Wangers?
Head over to Hoseheads, find the thread "Best week of sprint car racing poll", open it and vote for "Indiana Speedweel". It's running a close 2nd to the Knoxville Nationals. It would be funny to see it win.
And, yes, I know it's Sprint Week, but what can you do? Dick. |

I'm tradin' my Knoxville Nats vacation for Indiana Sprint Week this year. Two buddies are doing the same. Tacky dirt bull rings and REAL sprint cars have always been at the top of my list.:applaud: Better racing, more tracks and shorter drive from Florida, sorry Cappie but your off my dance card! The only problem is I'll miss the side trips to the Indiana tracks on my way.

like Bill W. said much respect to the traditional guys...but besides the ones mentioned let's not forget guys like Dave Blaney, Danny Smith, Sammy Swindell, Kevin Huntley, Rob Chaney, etc...all guys that have won either big races or championships without wings...
...not trying to start trouble, but it is just foolish to say, "They win one big money show and we never hear the end of it"... |
Re: Fun with the Wangers?
I've also thought it was curious when a lot of these "winged guys" either started in traiditional sprint cars or modifieds. I could put together a whole science fair project for you on who does what, and where they do it, but what does that get us?
Get over the debate. I've realized that you all look like fools no matter which side of the situation you're on.... |
Re: Fun with the Wangers?
I think a lot of it depends on the track they are racing at. Rilat ran ISW back in 2003 and didn't do very well. The USAC guys whooped up on the Sprint Bandits at Memphis back in 04. Shane Stewart and Lil' Stenhouse in his first ever wingless race did put on some great runs that night. I think it's safe to say that the top two finishers at the Million had more laps at Eldora than anyone else in the field.
