Vintage Indy cars at TexasWorld speedway
I spent last weekend running vintage Indy cars at the 2 mile, high bank Texas World speedway. Heres a few pix, running my 1927 Miller recreation, along with half a dozen Indy roadsters.
See some more pix in the Photo Gallery at my indyroadsters website. |

Oh, that was you? I have pictures on my site, too. Buried in with the rest.

Re: Vintage Indy cars at TexasWorld speedway
I went to an ARCA stock car race at TWS many years ago. I would kill to see 33 Watson-era roadsters flying around that place in an actual race! What a sight (and sounds) that would be.
What kind of shape is the track in today? Could an Indy car or stock car race be held there or is the facility in need of a lot of work? Just curious. David. |

Re: Vintage Indy cars at TexasWorld speedway
WOW! Thanks, cmakin, Those are great pix.
Actually, the driver of car in the Sunday morning session, when you took these pix, was my friend, Randall Cook. I drove the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions and was going to drive the Sunday afternoon session but got rained out. The track surface is in purty rough shape in turn 4, but was some better in the higher grooves. Lowering the tire pressure helped. Hope to go back there next year with our #98 "Parnelli Jones" Watson roadster and run the top lane. The whole weekend was a real "hoot" We don't get a chance to drive the high bank, super speedways very often so never pass up a chance.:31: mac miller in INDY Quote:

My guess You didnt see Ken Shrader tearing the place up after at least 3 uncalled for pit stops, only to finish 2nd? after almost catching Waltrip at the end? I took most of Macs pictures go to www.openwheelracers3.com to see what I thought about it. I had a great time but couldnt stay for sunday, nothing missed because of the rain, Heck no the bench racing is just as good as those cars running. although those 2 roadsters #1 &16 were getting around that sad shaped track pretty darn good. I met a lot of racers I had just responded to on the net in person for the first time. The old midget display and the 2 sprinters were also great to see and talk to the participants. aXe |
