USAC and Pavement racing
 
I dont want anyone to take this wrong but usac is not interested in pavement racing anymore all you have to do is look at where they are putting there efforts. SilverCrown has lost 2 pavement tracks in one year and If all they run is 3 pavement shows next year my sc car is going to be tore down and sold off 1 piece at a time and I know of 3 more that are doing the same. Thank GOD for BRUCE ASHMORE and his drive to keep the GOLDCROWN Series moving forward. POWRI is going to put a major hurt on USAC and Midget racing will be much better off HELL they got the DOG working for them maybe they would take over the Silvercrown series.

I heard the exact opposite. I guess Phoenix is out (so NASCAR can bring in their own CW West Series), along with Richmond, but I was told that they're trying to save the Richmond race, along with adding Berlin, Illiana, possibly South Georgia, and/or another race out east. I'm not sure how that works out, but those have been some things I've heard...

there might be a few more tracks that they are working on but the proof is in the pudding (show me). They have less cars this year than they have had in the last 20 years (why) Until there is a leader that leads and the purse is raised (they pay close to what they paid 5 years ago I believe that everything has really increased in $$$ except the purse.) there will not be a increase in car count. I hope that I am wrong !!!!! BUT

USAC needs to figure how to make pavement midget racing more affordable for the average racer. If they had a full field of cars at a place like Phoenix, over time they could growth their National series. Instead it seems, like they are losing control of their series allow the large well funded teams to constantly out spend small teams 10 to 1 and run the show. USAC has talked about putting Rev limiters on their engines to balance out the competition. Talk is cheap let’s see some action USAC. How hard can it be to put all the engines on a dyno and even them out with restrictors and Rev limiters? The racing would be closer and car counts would be up. I think more racers would come out to races if they didn’t have to turn their short track push rod engine 9,000 rpm to be competitive.

There were 46 midgets at Phoenix last year. Had to send 7 home, I believe. That didn't help to keep the race.

You can't raise purses without being able to make money. Let's be honest - less people go to these races than 5 years ago, so how can purses go up? You're asking for something that just isn't possible...

Its a major cost to change the rpms on the motors because teams are going to have to spend a ton of money to make the motor run properly at the new rpm range.

Saying a rev limiter is going to fix the midget motor discrepency is like saying spending more money in run down areas will fix their economy. Easy to say but the reality is much different and can end up being even more costly.

Cams,pistons,rods etc will have to be changed. People are working under the assumption the teams will just leave their motors as they are, but that isn't going to happen.

To me; it's the thousands of dollars to tow to the track and then thousands to put tires on the car that makes the deal hard to overcome.

There are so many forces at work behind the scenes that are just eating all of motorsports from the inside out. There are so many ******** involved because of the money that the sprot itself is being completely ignored.....at all levels.

How many cars would show up to a open pavement sprintcar race at say Winchester and the only rule was it had to be engine in front of the driver and on the center line of the car. And you were only able to run 1 set of tires all day. The tires you push off with for practice were the set you had to keep on the car every time it went on the track. And say you ran a 45 lap feature.

Richmond is out. I have also heard about the other tracks but things were not looking the best because they could get a sprintcar show in there for alot less money and have the same type of race. Now if usac lowers the fee for the SC shows that may be a whole different deal.
